Led speaker and volunteer recruitment, orientations, donations, and event coordination for New York City Community Garden Coalition's (NYCCGC) 2013 Stand For Our Land! Forum, which had over 500 attendees.
This forum served as a platform for mayoral candidates Bill de Blasio, Joe Lhota, Christine Quinn, and more to record their policies on NYC public open space, including community gardens, parks, and urban agriculture.Co-organized and executed a Grassroots Organizing Teach-In to engage New Yorkers on the topics of public open space, community gardening, gentrification, displacement, youth leadership, and environmental and economic justice.
Advocated for NYC municipal agencies to increase participatory decision-making surrounding community land access.
Monitored and publicized municipal information and citywide legislation to create new and protect existing public open spaces in NYC.
Participated in biweekly meetings to discuss NYC community gardeners’ most pressing issues so NYCCGC could rightfully represent their voices in the political sphere.
Guided and mentored local children (ages 2-18) on chicken tending, seed planting and tending, leadership skills, and planning workshops at Children's Magical Garden.
Acted as garden gatekeeper, greeted visitors, and tended to the grounds at Jefferson Market Garden and Children's Magical Garden.
